Asseco will create a multimedia underground museum in Rzeszów

Asseco Data Systems signed an agreement with the Rzeszów City Hall for modernization of the Underground Tourist Route. As part of the project “Rzeszów Cellars – the interactive cultural institution” a multimedia exhibition with many special effects will be created. Rzeszów Cellars will be the second such facility in Poland, after the Main Market Square Underground in Krakow. The value of the investment is nearly PLN 22 million.

Located under the slab of the Old Town Square in Rzeszów, the Underground Tourist Route is located on three floors. It consists of 40 chambers and 25 cellars, connected by 15 corridors with a total length of almost 500 m. Currently the route has no multimedia equipment. Asseco Data Systems has signed an agreement with the Rzeszów City Hall for the implementation of the project “Rzeszów Cellars – the interactive cultural institution”. The underground facility will be modernized and equipped with devices that will allow the visitors to “travel in time” virtually.

“Visitors to Rzeszów Cellars will be the characters of an interactive story about the history of the city. The effect of illusion will be achieved by using light, sound, air, theater and visual solutions presented both in real and virtual space. For example – when watching the history of the great city fire of 1681, the visitors will hear the crackling of burnt wood, and special devices will spray artificial smoke” – explains Paweł Sokołowski, Smart City Development Director at Asseco Data Systems.

In the above-ground part, next to the entrance to the cellars, a “culture square” will be created. It will be a place of cultural events, equipped, among others, with a led floor, a mobile stage and an interactive well with light and sound effects.

“We are extremely pleased with the contract concluded. The contractors – well-known and recognized companies guarantee that this investment will meet the expectations of the city residents. Rzeszów will gain the most modern cultural institution” – said Maciej Chłodnicki, spokesperson of the Mayor of the city of Rzeszów.

The project implementation will last until 30 November 2020. The project will be financed by, among others, the European Union under Activity 8.1 Protection of cultural heritage and development of cultural resources, Operational Program Infrastructure and Environment 2014-2020. The contractor will be a consortium of the following companies: Asseco Data Systems (leader), Art FM and New Amsterdam.Asseco will be responsible for the development of documentation and execution of construction works necessary for the implementation of multimedia exhibition, including electrical and teletechnical as well as sound systems. It will also create the IT network necessary for the functioning of the exhibition and will provide the necessary technical devices, equipment and multimedia equipment. The Consortium partners will be responsible for the preparation of the design project, multimedia content and the exhibition scenario.
